BPC-157 vs KPV

BPC-157 and KPV are both studied in the context of gut biology and anti-inflammatory research, but they are structurally and mechanistically distinct compounds with different evidence profiles. KPV is a tripeptide — Lys-Pro-Val — representing the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a naturally occurring peptide with established anti-inflammatory properties. KPV is far smaller than BPC-157 and acts through melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R), directly modulating NF-κB signalling and pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Its gut-specific research profile has expanded considerably following studies demonstrating that KPV can be delivered orally in nanoparticle formulations and reach colonic tissue intact — a property relevant to inflammatory bowel disease research. Researchers choosing between these compounds typically select BPC-157 for broad tissue repair or systemic cytoprotection studies, and KPV for studies focused specifically on melanocortin-receptor-mediated gut inflammation.
